What matters

  • Golden Week: rates ease; blanks rise; soft print expected next week. Drewry’s WCI on Sep 24 closed at $4,468/FEU (−1%). Transpacific was firmer — Shanghai–LA $7,838 (+2%), Shanghai–NY $10,373 (flat) — while Asia–Europe fell: Shanghai–Genoa $3,835 (−5%), Shanghai–Rotterdam $3,485 (−4%) as Suez containership transits rose 41→48 (W37→W38). Carriers announced 15 Transpacific blank sailings for next week (vs 9) and 7 Asia–Europe (vs 3). Drewry still expects East–West rates to soften into the holiday. Lock Asia–Mexico space and confirm the sailing, not just the rate.
  • Manzanillo landside: CRT test announced, then walked back. Copoma told truckers that from Sep 24, afternoon Contecon appointments should stage at the Centro de Regulación Terrestre (CRT); Contecon publicly said the notice was not coordinated with the terminal and to keep the current gate process. A source told T21 the Sep 24 trial did not run; stakeholders were due to meet again Mon Sep 28. Volume print is unchanged: 2.82M TEU Jan–Aug (+11%). Until one instruction is clear, pad landside time for Pacific boxes.
  • Electronic value declaration: three days left. MVE becomes mandatory on October 1, 2026 (SAT/ANAM joint release 53-2026). From today (Sep 28), ~3 days remain under the transitional window; without a VUTCE folio, definitive clearance stops. Facilities run through Dec 31 (pedimento annexes and E15 contract summaries) — use them, but do not delay transmission. Guide: new MVE extension.
  • Peso: FIX jumps to 17.7100. Banxico set 17.7100 MXN/USD on Sep 25 (last banking business day; Sat/Sun/Mon morning N/A until the noon FIX). Versus 17.2450 on Sep 18, that is roughly +2.7% more pesos per dollar week over week — the sharpest move in recent Pulso prints. The rate that counts on the entry is still the DOF rate on clearance day. Gap: no September EAX (Asia–Mexico) print yet; August’s $6,415/FEU remains the latest published reference.
  • T-MEC round four slips to October; border windows unchanged. Mexico and the U.S. postponed the fourth bilateral review round from September into October (agenda conflicts; steel/aluminum/auto Section 232 talks continue in working groups). At the border, Colombia Solidarity’s empty-trailer extended hours (from Sep 14, 90 days) and World Trade Bridge’s Saturday close at 7 p.m. (three-month pilot from Sep 5) remain in force — laden freight still plans against live CBP waits.
